Roman Empire, barbaric local bronze, c. 350-400 AD
Description:
The prototype seems to be VIRTVS EXERCITI with the emperor standing left, labarum in right hand, left hand resting on shield by his feet. Normally the emperor is crowned by a flying Victory on his right.
OT at left, T at right, probably illiterate remnants of the inscription, perhaps inspired by the often copied VOT-issues. The T may be the remnants of Victory's body.
Very thick coin, which is extremely unusual. These local, unofficial and "barbaric" copies were often produced with a much smaller weigt, diameter and thickness compared to the official issues.
